REPUBLIC ACT NO. 3048

AN ACT PROHIBITING THE OPERATION OF TRAWLS IN FISHING AREAS SEVEN FATHOMS DEEP OR LESS

 No person, association or corporation shall operate trawl fishing in fishing areas of the Philippines seven fathoms deep or less: Provided, however, That city and municipal councils may promulgate, subject to the approval of the Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources, ordinances regulating the operation of baby trawls, or those using fishing boats three tons gross or less, in municipal waters. aisa dc

SECTION 2.  Any person, association or corporation who violates the provision of this Act shall be punished by a fine not exceeding one thousand pesos or imprisonment not exceeding one year, or both, in the discretion of the Court.

SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
