Batas Pambansa Blg. 610, enacted on June 24, 1983, converts the Pototan Vocational School in Iloilo into the Pototan College of Arts and Sciences. The new institution will expand its offerings to include four-year degree programs such as Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education and Practical Arts, alongside existing vocational and secondary programs. Funding previously allocated to the vocational school will be transferred to support the college, with further appropriations planned in subsequent General Appropriations Acts. The act takes effect upon approval, officially renaming the institution.

AN ACT CONVERTING THE POTOTAN VOCATIONAL SCHOOL IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF POTOTAN, PROVINCE OF ILOILO, INTO A COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES TO BE KNOWN AS THE POTOTAN COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES AND AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS THEREFOR

SECTION 1. The Pototan Vocational School in the Municipality of Pototan, Province of Iloilo, is converted into a college of arts and sciences to be known as the Pototan College of Arts and Sciences.

SECTION 2. The Pototan College of Arts and Sciences shall offer, in addition to its present secondary, post-secondary and vocational curricular offerings, four-year courses of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education, Bachelor of Science in Practical Arts, Post-Secondary Trade Technical Education, Secondary Trade Education and such other courses as may be authorized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.

SECTION 3. All existing appropriations for the Pototan Vocational High School are hereby transferred to the Pototan College of Arts and Sciences, to be disbursed in accordance with the provisions of this Act. The necessary sum for the operation and maintenance of the new college shall be provided for in subsequent General Appropriations Acts, until which time the operation of the institution as a college shall be deferred, provided that its new name shall take effect upon approval of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
