Batas Pambansa Blg. 521, enacted on June 10, 1983, converts the Marigondon Barangay High School in Lapu-Lapu City into a national high school, now named Marigondon National High School. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports is tasked with overseeing the conversion and operation of the school. Funding for the school's operation for the current fiscal year will come from local resources and national aid, with future financial requirements to be included in upcoming General Appropriations Acts. The Act took effect upon its approval and was published in the Official Gazette on April 23, 1984.

AN ACT CONVERTING THE MARIGONDON BARANGAY HIGH SCHOOL IN BARANGAY MARIGONDON, LAPU-LAPU CITY, INTO A NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL TO BE KNOWN AS THE MARIGONDON NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR
SECTION 1. The Marigondon Barangay High School in Barangay Marigondon, Lapu-lapu City, is converted into a national high school to be known as the Marigondon National High School.
SECTION 2. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports is directed to take such steps as are necessary for the conversion and operation of the school and immediate implementation of this Act.
SECTION 3. The operation of said school for the current fiscal year shall continue to be funded out of local funds and from its share of national aid to local schools. The requirements for succeeding fiscal years shall be provided in the forthcoming General Appropriations Acts. cdt
